Highland will play at Ira today

November 1, 2012

Highland varsity football preview

Highland’s playoff hopes will be on the line today when the Hornets travel to Ira.
Highland (5-4) is coming off its first loss in six games, a 76-62 setback against Rotan in the Hornets’ district opener, while Ira is unbeaten at 8-0 and crushed Hermleigh 66-6 in its first district game.
With only three district games and two playoff qualifiers out of the four teams, the Hornets can’t afford another loss. Today’s game was moved up by one day because both Highland and Ira have several athletes who will in Arlington on Saturday to com-pete in a regional cross country meet.
Highland was unable stay with Rotan despite one of its highest-scoring games of the year. Rotan, which had an 0-7 record coming in, plays Hermleigh this week and can clinch a playoff spot in District 7, Divi-sion 1 Six-Man with another victory.
