Hardy Jean Smith

Hardy Jean Smith, 80, of Hobbs, N.M. passed from this life March 19, 2013, in Hobbs. She was born Sept. 8, 1932, in Corum, Okla. to Andrew and Callie Liles. Jean enjoyed her grandkids and great-grand kids, loved the lake house at Possum Kingdom where she enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her spouse, Howard Smith of Hobbs, N.M.; sons, Larry H. Smith and wife Shauna, of Gainesville, Garry G. Smith and wife Sarah of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter, Gayle Lynn Eads and husband Bobby of San Diego, Calif.; son, Martin J. Smith and wife Shannon of Midland; 14 grandchildren, Audra Smalley, Suzanne Smith, Alison Scott, Riley Gaston, Lindsey Miller, Ashley Eads, Callie Caraballo, Brooke Carpenter, Sierra Eads, Shelley Eads, Shea Smith, Garrett Smith, Molly Smith and Mary Ann Smith; and nine great-grandchildren, Dillon, Nate and Jackson Eads, Tracy, Nate and Alyson Smalley, Jonah and J.J. Caraballo and Baby Carpenter.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Geraldine Beavers.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013, at Chapel of Hope, with Star Hospice Chaplin Steve Lord officiating, assisted by son Larry Smith. Interment will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. on March 21, 2013, with the family in attendance to greet friends from 3-5 p.m. and 8 a.m. until time of service Thursday, March 22, 2013.
