Girls golfers 3rd at district

The Sweetwater girls golf team moved up one spot to third place Saturday during the second leg of the district golf tournament held at Sweetwater Country Club.
Sweetwater shot 371 for a 759 total as it moved past Wylie, which shot 390-775.
But going into today’s third and final leg of the district tournament at Green-wood, Sweetwater is faced with a near-insurmountable task of grabbing one of the top two spots and earning a trip to regionals, as it trails second-place Monahans (673) by 86 strokes.
Big Spring leads with a 662 total.
Sweetwater’s top indivi-dual is Amy Witt, who shot 89-182 and is in 14th place, while Elise Lawrence shot 89-185 and is in 15th place and Alexis Castillo shot 88-188 and is in 16th place. Also, Kala Wofford shot 105-204 and Corynn Mar-tin shot 108-209.
Sweetwater’s No. 2 team shot a 423-840 and is in seventh place. Players are Sierra Hernandez, who shot 96-197; Alaina Andrews, 1o1-200; Bailey Bernal, 110-214; Payton Moore, 116-229; and Angellica Collier, 122-244. Sweetwater’s medalists Saturday were Gabby Reyes, 126-259; Ashleigh Jimenez, 119-245; and Jasmine Reddic, 125.
