The 3rd Annual Float Fest, a small hot air balloon rally, is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Sweetwater.
All activities will be held in Newman Park in Sweetwater.
Sponsored flights, a tether balloon, vendors and a car show will be part of the activities.
Balloon flights are scheduled to launch shortly after sunrise on both Saturday and Sunday.
“These flights are strictly for paid sponsors,” a news release for the event said.
A tether balloon will be set up for the public – for a $5 donation per person – to go up 15 to 20 feet.
“Flights and tether will be weather permitting and at pilot discretion,” the release said. “The tether will be set up for as long as the wind will allow on Saturday and Sunday.”
At 9 a.m. on both days, the Team Chip Demo Team will be performing.
Vendors will be on site both days.
On Saturday, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., racers from Abilene Speedway will be set up with their cars and drivers and, the release said, have free hot dogs!”
On Saturday evening, a “The Park @ Dark Fore Concert” will be held.
“Shortly after sunset (around 6:30 p.m.) our pilots will bring out their baskets and set up the burners to shoot 20 foot flames,” the release said. “They will allow the public to come up to the basket, set off the burners, and take photos.”
There is no charge to come out and watch the balloons and attend the car show.
