Firefighter Appreciation Dinner

A Firefighter's Appreciation Dinner and Silent Auction will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex starting at 6:00 p.m. It will be sponsored by the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce.
The event will serve two purposes: to honor all area firefighters for their tireless efforts during this extreme wildfire season and to raise funds for the groups as well.
"We are honoring all first responders in Nolan County with a complimentary dinner for them, their spouse and the children living at their home," said event coordinators. "Our firefighters have exhausted almost all funds and they have lost equipment in the wildfires they have fought to keep us safe."
Those being recognized at the dinner will be the Sweetwater Fire Department, Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department (VFD), Maryneal VFD, Lake Sweetwater VFD, Blackwell VFD and the Nolan VFD. All proceeds will be divided and distributed to these fire departments.
Also during the banquet, recognition will also be given to other outlets who assisted during the outrageous fire season, along with the Sweetwater Police Department, Roscoe Police Department and the Nolan County Sheriff's Department.
The banquet committee is also asking local businesses to donate an item or gift certificate in their name to be used in the Silent Auction. "All donations will be acknowledged, with the name of the business, in the program for this event."
The Chuck Wagon Gang will be providing steak dinners, while entertainment will be provided by the Sweetwater Municipal Bank. State Representative Susan King will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
Tickets will be sold at $15 per person or $120 for a reserved table of eight. They can be purchased at the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce or at Sweetwater Regional Federal Credit Union, but will not be sold at the door. The last day to purchase tickets will be on Tuesday, October 4.
