A familiar face has once again joined the team at the Sweetwater Reporter. Zela Armstrong, who was on the sales team nine years ago, has re-joined the advertising team for the local newspaper. She was hired as an advertising executive by new Publisher Glenn Stifflemire.
Armstrong has lived in Sweetwater since she was in the eighth grade and she and her husband of 27 years, Gary Armstrong, have one daughter, Staci Armstrong of Abilene, who is a Sweetwater High School and Hardin Simmons University graduate.
Gary works for the City of Sweetwater, and is also the Chief of the Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department.
Zela brings back to the newspaper her years of advertising experience, along with a desire to see the newspaper be a part of the success of the community and of the local businesses.
"I'm excited about being back at the newspaper, and I look forward to catching up with all of my former clients and getting to know all of the new ones, while helping them all to grow their business."
“As we begin to make some changes and move this newspaper forward in an exciting time here in Sweetwater, we were looking to add someone with the necessary experience, who loves their community, and someone who has the drive to succeed, who will not only help this newspaper, but wants to do the same for their community and the businesses within their community. I believe we found that person with Zela. She’s energetic, has newspaper sales experience, along with a great personality, and I look forward to her being an asset to the Sweetwater Reporter,” stated Stifflemire.
