Dive team fishes for trailer

Grant Madden, Sweetwater Emergency Services Manager, with the trailer

Members of the Sweetwater Dive Team from the Sweetwater Fire Department fished out a trailer that had gone into Lake Sweetwater on Thursday morning.
According to Sweetwater Emergency Services Manager Grant Madden, Nolan County Game Warden Jake Simmering called the dive team when a trailer hitch malfunctioned, causing the trailer to go into the lake.
The trailer hitch was misadjusted and the boat on the trailer launched prematurely, taking the trailer with it. The trailer was flipped over and pointed in the opposite direction and had to be turned over and turned around by hand.
Divers Grant Madden and Richard Spradlin did the turning. The trailer was then pulled out by David Pickrell of Pickrell Wrecker Service. It took about 20 minutes to get the trailer out of the water.
