Cruz Torres Rivera

Cruz Torres Rivera, age 79, of Sweetwater passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel, recited by Lupe Medellin.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Okonkwo officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.
Cruz was born on May 5, 1933 in Stonewall County, Texas to Jose and Elena (Torres) Rivera. He worked for Martin Sign Company for many years as a sign designer and installer. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
He is survived by his sister, Pat Quirino and husband Lee of Arlington; sister-in-law, Luz Rivera of Sweetwater; numerous nephews, including Lance Rivera, Jerry Rivera and Rodney Rivera all of Sweetwater and Richard Rivera of Portales, N.M.; and numerous aunts and uncles, including Victoria Abalos and Juanita Vasquez, both of Sweetwater.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose & Elena (Torres) Rivera; brother, Sam Rivera; and nephew, Ricky Rivera.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Lopez, Edward Herrera, Joe Torres, Louise Torres, Brett Rivera and Lance Rivera.
