Now that the New Year has begun, Cornerstone Christian School has come up with an event to help the whole family get a good start on their health for 2013. Beat the Street for Little Feet will serve as a fun, healthy activity for the family to enjoy together while providing funds for the schoolâs expansion efforts.
Melanie Gibson, childrenâs ministry coordinator, said the event will involve a 5K run, a 50K bike tour and a one-mile fun run. It will be held Saturday, April 27 starting at 9 a.m. and will cost $25 per individual for each race. All proceeds will go to expansion efforts of the school.
Adults who have young children and want to participate may either participate in the fun run with their children, or allow their children to be entertained by the schoolâs staff while they participate in the race of their choice. âWe want it to be a family friendly event,â Gibson said. âWe will entertain your children with fun activities while you race if youâre comfortable with that.â Childrenâs activities will include bounce houses, food and games, which will also be available for children following the fun run.
Whole families can participate in the fun run race by either walking, running, riding a bike or pushing a stroller. âEveryone can find some way to take part,â Gibson added.
School staff is currently mapping out a course for the 50K bike tour. Gibson pointed out that it has been quite some time since a bike tour of that length has been held locally.
Those interested in pre-registering for a race, can do so online at www.4thandelm.com/cornerstone or contact the office at 325-235-1500. The website also has details about the races and will post the bike tour map once that has been determined. Sponsorships are also available. Please contact the church for more information.
While the bike tour begins at 9 a.m., the 5K run starts at 9:30 and the fun run at 9:45. Home base for the races will be at Cornerstone Christian School, which is part of 4th and Elm Church of Christ. Concession will be available during the race day.
There will also be a spaghetti supper held the night before in the 4th and Elm Church of Christ Warehouse from 5-7 p.m. Tickets will be available ahead of time.
