After splitting a dual match here Tuesday, the Sweetwater High School volleyball team completed a brief homestand Thursday by losing to Abilene Cooper as they were swept 3-0.
Kayla Chowning (six kills), Shaneese Brown (five kills) and Kensi Chowning (five kills) led the Lady Mustangs (2-2 overall), who now go to Abilene to play in the Bev Ball Classic which will be played today and Saturday.
Against Cooper, Sweet-water struggled on offense.
Its best showing came in Game 3 with 18 points, after losing 13-25 and 6-25 to begin the match.
On Tuesday, Sweetwater swept Water Valley in three games by scores of 25-23, 25-14, 25-21 in its last match after losing to Seminole 15-25, 18-25, 23-25.
In the match with Semi-nole, Kayla Chowning and Kensi Chowning had five kills; Aly Heredia had 11 assists, 11 digs and five aces; Maddie Jones had 11 digs and three aces; Kayla Chowning also had eight digs; Mikki Reschman had seven digs; Maddie Berry and Morgan Gomez had five digs; Brown and Lena Lovelady had four digs; and Berry and Brown had two kills. Kensi Chowning had eight kills, Kayla Chowning seven, Berry five and Brown four against Water Valley; Jones had 11 assists and Heredia 10; Gomez had 11 digs; Brown had 10 digs; and Heredia had nine digs.
