Services celebrating the life of Charles Adrian (C.A.) Price will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, at McCoy Funeral Chapel in Sweetwater. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Mr. Price passed away on December 14, 2010, at the age of 83.
C.A. was born in Hawley, Texas, on July 28, 1927, to Hershell and Jessie Price, the third of six children. C.A. grew up in the Rolling Plains of West Texas and graduated from Sylvester High School. He married "his bride," Eloise Butler on December 13, 1946, and together they began their life's work of growing and nurturing their family, every day for the next 64 years.
C.A. held a host of jobs over his lifetime, most notably as a refrigeration service technician for Coca-Cola; a career he held for over 33 years. After retirement from Coke, C.A. enjoyed many more years of working, including delivering film and jewelry for Wal-Mart, driving to pick up new cars for local dealerships, serving as a substitute teacher, as well as decades of being a professional fan and cheering section for his children's and grand children's sporting events, concerts and recitals. Perhaps his greatest career achievements include the countless bicycles he repaired and donated to local children, his readiness to always offer assistance with a home or auto repair project, and his desire to never turn away someone in need, be they a life long acquaintance, a newly acquired son or daughter-in-law, or the person he just met at the coffee shop, who was now his "new best friend."
C.A. was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Wenona Herron and brother Eldon Price. C.A. is survived by his wife, Eloise, his son Mickey Price and wife Carol of Sweetwater; daughter Joy Houston and husband Steve of Sweetwater, daughter Gayle O'Hair and husband Bill of Longmont, Colorado, and daughter Tina Thompson and husband Terrell of Lubbock, as well as sisters Anita Watson, Daisy Stephens, and Cora Mae Isenburg. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at McCoy Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday December 15. C.A.'s eight grandsons will be serving as pall bearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Highland Heights United Methodist Church, 1801 Lamar Sweetwater, Texas 79556 or to Hendrick Hospice Care 1682 Hickory, Abilene, Texas 79601.
