Broadway Lights brightens the way for 2017-2018 season

The APPLAUSE Music Series for season 2017-2018 opened over the weekend with a special pre-show dinner at the Sweetwater Country Club. Honored guests were treated to a red carpet and paparazzi-style welcome with students from the Sweetwater High School dressed up as the press and asking pre-arranged questions. The guests were then treated to a dinner of prime rib, salad vegetables and dessert and had a choice of red or white wine.
During the special dinner, guests were given a surprise. The star of the APPLAUSE Music Series, BROADWAY LIGHTS, tenor Joseph Evans, sang “Tchaikovsky and a Few Other Russians” as well as a few songs from the show, accompanied by Martha Taylor on piano.
Joseph Evans, renowned Tenor and Guest Artist for the APPLAUSE Series’ opening concert BROADWAY LIGHTS began his professional career in the field of musical theater,  Evans is now returning to musical theater once again.  During the interim, he was one of the opera stage’s most popular tenors.
I am Aldopho ( The Drowsy Chaperone), Tchaikovsky and Other Russians (Lady in the Dark), Race You To The Top Of The Morning (The Secret Garden), Finishing the Hat (Sunday in the Park with George), The Impossible Dream (Man of La Mancha), I am I, Don Quixote (Man of La Mancha), Stranger in Paradise (Kismet), And this is my Beloved (Kismet), Look Who’s Alone Now (from Nick and Nora), Younger than Springtime (from South Pacific), My Cup Runneth Over (from I Do!, I Do!) , Once Upon A Time (All American), What You’d Call A Dream (from Diamonds) and lastly, Say Goodbye (The Promise).
The packed house shouted “Encore!” and “Brava!” when all was done. Evans was delighted as was the audience.
