Billy (Bill) Thompson, age 84, of Sweetwater, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric VonAtzigen officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Bill was born on Oct. 8, 1928, at Eskota, Texas to E.H. and Minnie (Puckett) Thompson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a self-employed farmer and rancher. He married Inge Hagn in September 1987 in Robert Lee, Texas.
He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Thompson Broman of Houston, Texas; nephews, William H. Broman of Katy, John A. Broman of Houston and Paul Broman of Houston; niece, Karen Vlamis of Wichita, Kan.; step son, David Sissom of Amarillo; and step daughter, Irene Bell of Virginia Beach, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E.H. and Minnie Thompson; wife, Inge Thompson; sister, Mary Jeannette Huffman; and step son, John Sissom.
Pallbearers will be William H. Broman, John A. Broman, Paul Broman, Loren Achenbach, Ted W. Vlamis and Rex Mayfield.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, at the funeral home.
