Bids opened at county meeting

February 26, 2013

Bids for gravel and fuel were opened during the county commissioners' meeting held on Monday morning at the Nolan County Courthouse.
One bid was opened for the 2013 seal coating projects for the county precincts from Vulcan Materials. While the bid was advertised for gravel and AC5 asphalt, the bid--which was received by the commissioners--was solely for gravel.
Also, two bids were opened for fuel to be used by the Nolan County precincts and the Sheriff's Department. The bids from the Central Rolling Plains Co-op and WTG Fuels were received as well.
Although the bids were received, a decision for both of these items will be made at a later date.
And following approval by the commissioners, the burn ban for Nolan County will remain in effect until the next meeting date. Approval was additionally given to advertise for bids on road maintainers for Precincts 1 and 3.
Furthermore, the minutes of the February 11 and February 20 meetings were approved, and reports were received from the Nolan County Welfare Office as well as the Veterans Service Office.
Closing out the meeting was the public input portion, in which Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden noted that the callback system put in place for the county is now fully functional.
In addition, the president of the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce board, Gil Cherry, thanked the commissioners for opening the meeting with the recitation of the American and Texas flags and an invocation, which will now take place at the start of the county commissioner meetings.
