Banyard plays 3rd exhibition contest

NEW ORLEANS — Ex-Sweetwater High and University of Texas-El Paso star Joseph Banyard, now with the New Orleans Saints, played in his third exhibition game Friday as the Saints lost to the Jack-sonville Jaguars 27-24.
Banyard, who recently signed a three-year con-tract with the Saints as a rookie free agent, finished the game with 6 yards rushing on two carries and also caught two passes for 17 yards. It was the first time Banyard had not led the team in rushing during exhibition play. Banyard has rushed for 51 yards on 14 carries and also caught four passes for 20 yards in three games.
