At Monday night's meeting of the Nolan County Hospital District's board of directors, approval was given toward a few purchases.
The items approved for purchase were some orthopedic equipment which will assist with hip and joint replacement surgery and would be used by new orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Marvel. An update on Dr. Marvel was given, in which positive feedback has been heard as he begins his practice.
A GE Ultrasound OTR, 9900 Innovation was also approved, which will be used for patients undergoing joint replacement surgery who cannot be sedated. In addition, some cardiac rehab fitness equipment was approved to be purchased, and a savings of around $8,000 is expected.
Also during the meeting, the March 2014 financial statements were reviewed and approved, along with the accounts payable and payroll from the month and the bad debt write-off list from March 2014. The quarterly reserve fund analysis report was reviewed and approved, as well as the quarterly physical therapy fund analysis report.
And following a closed, executive session, the board approved the credentialing files, the quality report and the 2013 hospital PI plan in open session. The minutes from the previous meeting were additionally reviewed and approved.
Furthermore, board members were asked to begin considering names to fill the vacancy of District 1 trustee. The board was also informed that Hospital Week will be observed from May 11-17, with some events lined up at the local hospital.
