June sports camps schedule

The Roscoe basketball coaching staff is conducting a camp on June 1-3 at the Roscoe High School gym for girls and boys who are entering grades 1-5. The camp will be from 6-8 p.m. each day and the cost is $30. The camp will cover fundamental skills, games and concepts of basketball and include a 1-on-1 and 3-on-3 tournament, hot shot contest and free throw contest. Participants get a camp T-shirt and awards are given each day. Pre-registration is preferred, but persons may register at the door. Call camp facilitator Kelly Jo Sexton at (254) 784-0991.

Two Mustangs named MVPs

Two Sweetwater players earned MVP honors, and a total of 10 Mustangs have been given all-District 2-4A baseball recognition.
Pitcher-infielder J.P. Poe was named District Co-MVP and outfielder Isaiah McGee was chosen as the district’s Defensive MVP.

Summer Shootout set

Roscoe Collegiate has an-nounced its plans to hold a girls and boys basketball Summer Shootout, with the dates set for June 11-12. All games will be at the Roscoe Collegiate high school and middle school gyms.

Sweetwater FCA all-stars

These 13 graduating Sweetwater High School seniors have been selected to participate next month in athletic events in three West Texas cities as part of the Big Country Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Star Festival. Benefit tourney set for June 20 at SCC

In conjunction with the Gary Sinise Foundation, the Sweetwater Country Club will host a golf tournament on June 20 which will benefit wounded military veterans and their families.
The tournament format will be a four-person scramble, with play scheduled to start at 9 a.m. The cost is $50 per person, and hole sponsor signs are available for $100. The event will have a shotgun start.

Three Lady Mustang camps are scheduled in June

A Lady Mustang Vol-leyball Skills Camp has been scheduled for Tuesday through Friday, June 9-12 at Sweetwater Middle School.
Also, a Lady Mustang Basketball Camp will be held Monday through Thursday, June 15-17 at the SHS gym. A Lady Mustang Soft-ball Camp will be held June 23-26 at the Jerry Collins Softball Complex for students who have completed grades K-8.

Lawrence records 1st hole in one

May 22, 2015

Jack Lawrence made his first hole in one ever this past Tuesday while playing at Sweetwater Country Club.
Lawrence was using an 8-iron when he aced the No. 17 hole measuring 133 yards.
Those who were witnesses to the feat were Jerry Berlin, Homer Tay-lor, Fred Waldrop, Jerry Reeves, Rita Lawrence and family dog Bob.
