S’water gets an easy win

October 8, 2014

After an easy home win on Tuesday, now comes the big road test this Saturday for Sweetwater.
The Lady Mustangs took care of business by defeat-ing Lubbock Estacado 3-0 at the SHS gym. The Lady Mustangs beat the Lady Matadors by scores of 25-10, 25-21 and 25-14 to go 3-1 in district play; Estacado fell to 0-4.

JV team remains on a roll

Sweetwater High School’s JV team routed Lubbock Estacado 25-7, 25-6 in sub-varsity volleyball action here Tuesday, as Coach Al Miller’s Lady Mustangs improved to 4-0 in district play.

SMS cross country medalists

Pictured in no particular order are Sweetwater Middle School’s medalists at the Clyde Lake Invitational cross country meet, all among the top 20 individual runners in their age division. 8th grade White still unbeaten

October 7, 2014

The Sweetwater Middle School eighth grade White football team is now 4-0 after last Thursday’s 24-6 win over Anson. But the seventh grade Red team is still winless after their 16-6 defeat vs. Anson.

Talented Sweetwater trio hopes for second 5-0 run

Sweetwater’s 2014 football season is only half over and the games that really count don’t begin until Friday, when it starts Dis-trict 2-4A, Division II play at Fort Stockton.
But after finishing 4-6 the last four years and missing the playoffs the last five, the Mustangs have blazed their way to a heady 5-0 start this season, capped by the team’s impressive 62-48 win over previously-unbeaten Andrews on the road.

S’water pounds Lamesa for 2nd 2-4A win

LAMESA — Following a heartbreaking loss at home to Levelland three days ear-lier, the Sweetwater High School volleyball team went to Lamesa and swept the host Tornadoes in three games on Friday night.

Highland stuns No. 6 SC; Blackwell tops VB

October 6, 2014

Nolan County’s two six-man football teams both won on the road Friday. Highland (2-3) knocked off No. 6-ranked Sterling City for its first on-field win of the year, while Blackwell (3-3) overcame a one-point deficit at halftime to post a 21-point win at Veribest.
