Highland is shut out by No. 1 in state

ANSON — No. 1 Crowell is off to a good start in the Class 1A, Division II foot-ball playoffs.
The Wildcats (10-0) — who are in their third year of direction under former Blackwell athlete and coach Nathan Hayes — began defense of their Division I six-man title on Friday with a 60-0 bi-district win over Highland.

Mustangs trample Perryton, 50-13

CANYON — Sweetwater’s football team was seriously tested on Thursday for the first time since it defeated Monahans three weeks ago to clinch a playoff berth.
The Mustangs trailed in a game Thursday for the first time since that 63-34 win, as Perryton led 7-0 in the opening minutes.

Wildcats rally past the Plowboys

BIG SPRING — For the first three quarters, Roscoe and Wink went back and forth at each other on the scoreboard — the Plowboys answering ever Wildcat TD with one of their own.
But Roscoe, which led after each period, wound up on the losing end of a 36-28 decision in a Class 2A, D-II bi-district contest.
Roscoe (5-6) held leads of 14-6, 21-14 and 28-22 at the quarter breaks.

Plowgirls fall to RL in opener

November 14, 2014

The Roscoe girls basketball team led 7-5 after one quarter of its season opener on Tuesday, but Robert Lee dominated the middle two periods to win, 37-28.
Robert Lee managed to build a double-digit lead by outscoring Roscoe 23-9 in the second and third quarters, and the Plowgirls were unable to catch up.
Mia Herrera was the top scorer for Roscoe with nine points while Sunshine Saddler finished with eight.
Samantha Ortega scored five points, and Dani Dean and Selena Perez both finished with three points.

Mustangs face Rangers to start postseason run

You could say that making the move to District 2-4A Division II this year has paid off big for Sweetwater.
The Mustangs are not only in the playoffs for the first time in six years, but are 10-0 entering the post-season for the first time since 1997.

After consecutive trips to Austin, Highland girls basketball coach Shea Baucom said goodbye to three starters — 6-1 Sierra Allen, 5-10 Beth Richburg and 6-0 Schyler Kimbrell — who were a key part of that ultra-successful two-year run.
