The City Commission of Sweetwater met for its regular session this week and opened with a commendation of Lieutenant Brad Payne and Firefighter Tad Baird from Assistant Chief Jarrod L. Campbell. The commendation was read aloud by Fire Chief Grant Madden and was met with a standing ovation.
In the early morning hours of March 15, 2017, an officer of the Sweetwater Police Department observed a red passenger vehicle traveling southbound in the 400 block of Lamar St. The vehicle appeared to be going at an unsafe speed along Lamar.
