Forecast: warmer weather on the way

West Texas isn't known for its wintry weather, but area residents have had a taste of low temperatures in recent months, including an ice storm around the new year, blanketing Nolan and surrounding counties in frozen crystalline wonder. Beautiful, until you had to drive in it.

This morning, we'll have a 20% chance of snow, which will mix with rain after 9 a.m. and gradually end. Expect mostly cloudy conditions, which will change to sunny skies with a high near 46. Winds will be from the west around 10 mph.
For tonight, we should see mostly clear skies. The low will be around 29, with western winds around 10 mph.
This weekend, we'll have a warming trend, with highs in the 50s on Saturday climbing up to the 60s on Sunday. Weekend lows will be in the mid 30s.

Highland teams lead 12-1A

Tuesday was another big day for Highland’s basketball teams, as both won their games easily to stay at the top of the District 12-1A standings. The girls are 4-0 in district after a 72-28 win against Hermleigh; the boys beat Hermleigh, 60-42, as they improved to 2-0.
