New Microtel Inn and Suites to open in Sweetwater

Love’s Hospitality, LLC will open a new Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham® on May 11. The hotel is located at 9416 N Interstate 20, adjacent to the Love’s Travel Stop. The hotel will be operated by Sky Hospitality and employ 15 local residents to manage the property.

Love’s Storage Solutions welcomed to Sweetwater

Jim Sanders (center), general manager of Love's Storage Solutions, cuts the ceremonial ribbon marking the facility's grand opening. Located on the north side of I-20 just outside of Sweetwater, Love's Storage Solutions boasts 357 individual storage units of varying sizes featuring climate control and video security. Joining Sanders are employees of Love's and members of the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce.

Lady Mustangs can’t finish off comeback after forcing Game 3

GREENWOOD — After being shut out for the first time all season in a 9-0 Game 1 loss on Friday, the Sweetwater softball team roared back to claim a 9-4 win Saturday and force a decisive third game in its Class 4A area playoff series with Fort Stockton.

SW, Ft Stockton to play at Greenwood

Sweetwater’s baseball team will play Fort Stockton in the Class 4A area playoffs after defeating Borger in bi-district this past weekend.
The teams will play a best-of-3 series at Midland Greenwood High School, said Sweetwater head coach Roland Herrera.

Mustangs win bi-district series

The Sweetwater baseball team defeated Borger twice on Friday at Lubbock Monterey High School's Moegle Field to capture the bidistrict championship. The Mustangs will now face either Clint or Fort Stockton in the next round.

APPLAUSE appreciation luncheon slated for Wednesday

The SMA (Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium) APPLAUSE Music Series will hold an Appreciation Luncheon this Wednesday, May 13, at noon in the TSTC Banquet Room.
Philanthropy/volunteer awards will be given to Ludlum Measurements and Newman Ranches, while Sweetwater Reporter and KXOX Radio will be given special recognition as media sponsors.

Cheer camp set for June

The Mini Mustang Cheer Camp will be held June 8-11 for all girls between the age of four through completed fifth grade.
The camp will be held at Sweetwater Intermediate School, with four-year olds through completed first grade attending from 9-11:30 a.m. and completed second grade through completed fifth grade from 1-3:30 p.m.

SW sweeps past Borger in bi-district

LUBBOCK — It was supposed to be an afternoon-evening doubleheader of high school playoff baseball for Sweetwater and Borger.
But the teams’ bi-district playoff turned into a night of Mustang domination, as Sweetwater won both ends of the doubleheader for a sweep of the best-of-3 series at Lubbock Monterey High School’s Moegle Field.
