Mildred Faye Egly, age 92, of Sweetwater, passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 at Garden of Memories with Pastor Jimmy Bennett officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014 at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m.

I-20 closed eastbound near mile marker 255

A truck fire in Nolan County has caused the closure of eastbound I-20 near mile marker 255 for approximately two miles. Drivers are encouraged to seek an alternate route until the scene is cleared.

New jail to ease law enforcement, taxpayer burdens

It's been a long process with several delays along the way, but Sheriff David Warren said recently in an interview with the Reporter that the new jail, when completed in May 2015, will ease a lot of burdens for both his staff and the taxpayers who funded the project.
The main issue: the current jail located at the Nolan County Courthouse was simply too small to house the amount of prisoners the county needs, according to Sheriff David Warren.

AgriLife Extension sets Oct. 14 farm bill decision making program in Roscoe

ROSCOE – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will offer a free farm bill decision-aid program for producers from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at the Roscoe Coop Gin in Roscoe.

Thomas Hunter Miller went to be with Jesus on Oct. 7, 2014. Hunter completed the Miller family on Feb. 26, 1998, bringing his special light and laughter to everyone he met. Hunter attended St. John’s Episcopal School, Bonham Jr. High School and Permian High School.
A natural athlete, Hunter enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing – as long as he did not have to touch the fish – baseball, soccer, basketball and football. But after his first ice hockey lesson at 22 months, his life-long passion for the sport began.
