LEVELLAND — Sweetwa-ter’s junior varsity boys put 179 points on the board en route to winning the district team championship Thurs-day at the 2-4A track meet.

JV girls place at 2-4A meet

LEVELLAND — A pair of top-five finishes by two athletes led the Sweetwater JV girls’ effort at the District 2-4A track meet. Danielle Vega was second in the 200 dash (29.65) and third in the 100 (13.97), and Shania Towner was fifth in both events with times of 31.61 and 14.83, respectively.

Girls sports banquet set

A girls sports banquet will be held on May 11 for Sweetwater High School. All SHS girls athletes in volleyball, basketball, soft-ball and track will be recognized at the banquet for their achievements during the 2014-15 school year.

Joe Gorman, CEO of Hawk Buildings, cuts the ceremonial ribbon at the Sweetwater store's grand opening Friday. Hawk Buildings is located at 1806 East Broadway. Members of the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and members of the community also attended the event.

Thompson Square to perform at Nolan County Fair

Nolan County Heart Walk takes place Saturday

The Nolan County Heart Walk will be held this Saturday, April 18, with registration taking place at 9 a.m. at the Sweetwater High School field house.
The official walk will start at 9:30 a.m. from the field house, with this year's route taking place in the residential areas around the field house.

TSTC hosts first Windy Day

Texas State Technical College (TSTC) hosted the First Annual Windy Day for dual enrollment students. The students, parents and counselors from Colorado City, ATEMS and Eastland high schools visited the Sweetwater campus where they met with TSTC faculty, toured the facilities, climbed in the training lab and took a field trip to TSTC’s wind turbine which is located eight miles from campus.
