LUBBOCK — Despite a solid 77 in Tuesday’s final round, Sweetwater’s Michael Hunt just missed reaching the Class 3A state golf tournament in Austin.

S’water scores 15 to rip Monahans, gain 3rd-place tie

April 16, 2014

The number 15 has signi-fied a lot of things for the Sweetwater baseball team this season when it comes to Monahans.
It represents the number of wins the Mustangs had during their 15-3 start this season before a 7-3 loss at Monahans on March 25.
It also represents the total number of runs the team had scored in its last four games since that loss as the team endured a 1-4 tailspin. But on Tuesday, in their final home game, it represented the Mustangs’ final score in a 15-1 win over the Loboes in five innings at Sportsman’s Park.

Mustangs seek revenge vs. the Loboes

April 15, 2014

The District 4-3A playoff picture is unsettled, but a win today at home would help the Sweetwater baseball team’s chances of making the postseason.
And avenging a 7-3 loss on March 25 when Sweet-water played at Monahans would be nice, too.
Wylie (6-1) has a one-game lead over Big Spring with Sweetwater and Mona-hans (3-4) tied for fourth with three games left, one game behind Snyder (4-3). The top four teams will ad-vance to the playoffs.
