Varsity tennis team has dual at Andrews

The Sweetwater High School varsity tennis team went to Andrews to play a dual match March 3 but only one player — Zac Bax — was able to claim a win which was the result of an Andrews forfeit. Bax lost to Robert Mendieta in his other boys singles match.

Cuellar to appear back in court

Judge will decide if convicted sex offender will receive new trial

Convicted on three counts of aggravated sexual assault of three minor children in his care, Joe Frank Cuellar received three life sentence for his crimes in January.
On Monday, 32nd Judicial District Court Judge Glen Harrison — who presided over Cuellar's trial — will determine whether the 60-year-old Sweetwater man should be tried again.
The motion for a new trial was filed by Cuellar's defense attorney, Chris Hartman.

Fugitive Friday: Gaylon Lekee Williams

Nolan County Law Enforcement is actively searching for a 21 year old fugitive who’s been avoiding detection by law enforcement. Gaylon Lekee Williams, a repeat offender, who has compiled several arrests in Nolan County, is wanted on the strength of outstanding warrant #18748, issued out of the 1st Multicounty Court at Law. Williams was last known to be living in Sweetwater, at the Apple Creek Apartment Complex, #906.

Foust crowned 2015 Miss Snake Charmer

The annual Miss Snake Charmer pageant was full of surprises and unique talent. Mikeilah Foust, a junior at Sweetwater High School, was crowned Miss Snake Charmer and was chosen by her fellow contestants as Miss Congeniality. She also won the talent portion of the contest with her rendition of the classic Etta James song, “At Last.” She is the daughter of Richard and Vicki Foust of Sweetwater.
Runner-up Casey Whoolery-Pratt, a senior at Sweetwater High School, performed Disney favorite “Let it Go” with her flute. She is the daughter of Heath and Misty Whoolery-Pratt.
