Sweetwaterâ€™s Greg Aiken, who will play baseball for McMurry University starting next year, this past week added a second all-state honor to his list of postseason achievements.
Aiken, who as a senior compiled a .443 batting average with 17 extra-base hits and also fielded .990 at first base for the Mustangs, was a Class 3A second team all-state selection at that position by the Texas Sports Writers Association.

Two ex-Highland High School athletes earned MVP recognition on Saturday at Six-Man Coaches Associa-tion all-star games that were held in Wichita Falls.
Abilene Christian Univ-ersity-bound Sierra Allen had a team-high 18 points in the West starsâ€™ 81-48 win over the East in the girls basketball game, while Michael Hyde was defensive MVP as the West prevailed 42-16 over the East in the football game. Both Allen and Hyde are 2014 HHS graduates.
Allen was also named as her teamâ€™s MVP back in June when she played in a Fellowship of Christian Athletes all-star basketball game held in Brownwood.
A Mustang Football Camp will be held this Wednesday through Friday, July 23-25 at Mustang Bowl from 8-11 a.m. daily for students entering grades 3-9. The cost of the camp is $30, and all campers will receive individual instruction from members of the Mustang coaching staff. The camp will place emphasis on skills and drills and will also have both punt, pass and kick instruction and competitions. There will also be refreshments, T-shirts and certificates. Checks should be made payable to Sweetwater High School.
The Texas Terminators, a 12-and-under softball team, go to Bloomington, Indiana later this week to play in an ASA national softball tour-nament that will run from July 27 through Aug. 3.
The Terminators will be one of about 30 teams who are expected to play in the national tournament, and are one of five Texas entries. The tournament will begin with pool play on Monday, July 28, followed by a double-elimination format.
June 30-July 2, Lonnie Mendez, Eric and Amanda Martinez and other instructors and owners of Team Chip, traveled to Las Vegas for continuing education and training at the annual MAIA Supershow. There were five Team Chip schools represented at the event. There they attended many seminars and sessions with some of the best martial arts businessman, leaders and instructors. From 7 a.m. training with Bill "Superfoot" Wallace and UFC Fighter, Matt Hughes, to business, retention, advertising and much more. Master instructor Chip Townsend was a seminar speaker at the event.

Jump Rope Camp is August 4-6, for students completing grades Kindergarten through fourth. Third and fourth graders will attend from 9 a.m. to noon and Kindergarten through second graders will attend from 1-3 p.m. Camp will be held at the Sweetwater Intermediate School gym. A volleyball camp will be held Aug. 6-8 at the Sweetwater Middle School gym for students who are entering grades 4-8. The camp will be held each day at the gym, located on 305 Lamar Street, from 4-6:30 p.m. A fee will be charged and includes a T-shirt. Pre-registration is greatly appreciated. A concession stand will be open for snacks and drinks. The goal of this yearâ€™s camp is to improve playersâ€™ skills in volleyball for the upcoming season with instruction through games and fun.
