MONDAY, OCT. 27
Sweetwater middle school host Big Spring, 4 p.m.
TUESDAY, OCT. 28
Sweetwater freshman, JV and varsity teams host Big Spring: freshmen and JV at 5 p.m., varsity at 6 p.m.
THURSDAY, OCT. 30
Sweetwater freshmen will host Pecos, 5 p.m.
Sweetwater JV will host Pecos, 6:30 p.m.
Sweetwater 7th grade âAâ and 8th grade âBâ teams will play at Pecos, 4 p.m.
Sweetwater 7th grade âBâ and 8th grade âAâ teams will play at Pecos, 5:30 p.m.
Roscoe junior high will play at Menard, 5 p.m.
Roscoe JV will play at Stamford, 6:30 p.m.
For all the accomplishments over the first seven games, Sweetwaterâs football team still felt it had something to prove coming into Fridayâs district game against Monahans.
Even with their gaudy 7-0 record, the Mustangs were looking for that knockout punch, that signature victory against a top-caliber opponent to put a punctuation mark on their season.

JV: Monahans 42,
Javier Olguin had a 3-yard run in the first quarter for Sweetwaterâs JV, but that was it for the Mustangs (2-1 in district, 6-2 overall).
Other Sweetwater stand-outs against Monahans included Justin Allen (hard running), Luis Vasquez (good blocking at tight end), Tate Rainey (defense) and Junior Lawhon (defense).
âWe had kids out with injuries and were down numbers-wise,â said coach Jarrod Gee. âBut I thought the guys played hard and finished. Thatâs all we ask.â
ROSCOE â Robyâs Lions got the upper hand on Roscoeâs Plowboys gwith a 14-6 lead in the second quarter on Ridgdon Terryâs 7-yard run. However, a pair of Vincent Pantoja touchdown runs for 16 and 4 yards, respectively, was the start of better things for Roscoe as the Plowboys (4-4 overall, 2-1 district) rallied to beat Roby convincingly, 30-14, in a District 6-2A, Division II game Friday.

FRIDAY, OCT. 24
Sweetwater varsity will host Monahans, 7:30 p.m.
Roscoe varsity will host Roby, 7:30 p.m.
Highland varsity will play at Hermleigh (district ope-ner), 7:30 p.m.
Blackwell varsity will host Moran (district opener), 7:30 p.m.
SATURDAY, OCT. 25
Sweetwater freshman, JV and varsity teams will play at Lubbock Estacado: freshmen and JV at 11 a.m., varsity at noon.
The district portion of the high school football season is already into its third week for Sweetwater and Roscoe and both have key games tonight against Monahans and Roby, respectively. But tonight will see Highland and Blackwell finally play-ing their first district games as well.

Since Sweetwater made the move to District 2-4A, Division II, one game has been highlighted on its 2014 football schedule.
That game is finally here as the Mustangs host long-time rival Monahans at the Bowl in a titanic 2-4A, Division II matchup Friday.
