Thomas Hunter Miller went to be with Jesus on Oct. 7, 2014. Hunter completed the Miller family on Feb. 26, 1998, bringing his special light and laughter to everyone he met. Hunter attended St. Johnâ€™s Episcopal School, Bonham Jr. High School and Permian High School.
A natural athlete, Hunter enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing â€“ as long as he did not have to touch the fish â€“ baseball, soccer, basketball and football. But after his first ice hockey lesson at 22 months, his life-long passion for the sport began.
Memorial services for Joseph Lee Haines, 41, of Sweetwater, will be held at the Sweetwater Lake beach area on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Frankie Santiago officiating under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. He was cremated.
He died on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 20, 1973 in Edna, Texas. He married Shannon Terrell on Oct. 22, 2013 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
He loved bull riding, steer wrestling, hunting and fishing and barbecuing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Bertie "Dee" Kitchell, age 69, of Sweetwater, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
Per her wishes, she wanted to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Services for Joe Ishmel Cotherman, 86, of Sweetwater will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Keith Clower officiating. Interment will follow at Shep Cemetery in Taylor County with military graveside rites under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Monday evening, Oct. 6, 2014 at McCoy Funeral Home.
He died on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
David Alvarado, age 55, of Sweetwater, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.
As per his wishes, his body was cremated. A private graveside was held on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 at Sweetwater Cemetery. Burial followed.
Arrangements were under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
David was born on May 8, 1959 in Sweetwater to Regino and Rosa (Ovalle) Alvarado. He was a member of the Calvario Baptisto Church.
HAMLIN â€” Barbara Sue Jeffery, 67, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, in Hamlin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at North Central Baptist Church, with burial following at the McCaulley Cemetery, directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.
Memorial services for William Louis "Will" Lenoir, 65, of Godley and formerly of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Blackwell Fire Department facilities with Rev. Daniel Dotson, Larry Douglas and Randall Trull officiating.
Military Graveside Honors will be held at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Veterans Cemetery on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. with full Military Honors performed by the U.S. Army Honor Guard under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. He was cremated.
He died on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Dallas Veterans Hospital.
Gloria Jesusita Gomez was born on Oct. 29, 1943 in Sweetwater, Texas to Francisco Q. Gomez and Dolores Torres. She was the eldest of 11 siblings â€” four sisters and seven brothers. She attended Sweetwater High School. She enjoyed playing with and being with her siblings and cousins. Sheâ€™s always enjoyed family gatherings.
Graveside services for Quova Marvline Powell Benson, 84, of Tyler and formerly of the Newman community area in Fisher County, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Newman Cemetery in Fisher County. Family members will officiate. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Saturday at McCoy Funeral Home, located at 401 E. Third Street in Sweetwater.
Benson died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at Reunion Plaza Healthcare and Rehab in Tyler.
Betty Jo Gavit, 80, of Sweetwater, died on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at Sweetwater Healthcare Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater, as Mrs. Gavit was cremated.
She was born on Jan. 12, 1934, in San Angelo. She moved to Sweetwater in 1980 and was a homemaker.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Minnie (Rhoades) Akins; husband, Walter Gavit on July 17, 1991; sisters, Mary Guelker, Alva Taylor and Birtie Arnold; and her brother, Charles Edward Akins.
