Willard McFaul's last train departed this earthly station on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014 at 1:51 p.m. at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. Services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Roscoe with Reverend Adam Davis and Dr. Rick Willis officiating. Interment will follow at the Roscoe Cemetery. Family visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater is in charge of arrangements.Â
Sweetwater players celebrated on the field after their 50-13 bi-district win over Perryton on Thursday. The Mustangs, who improved to 11-0 with the win, will face either Bridgeport or Ferris in the area round. Roscoe lost 36-28 in its playoff with Wink, however. One-night-only program is part of the ongoing APPLAUSE Music Series
The Abilene Christian University (ACU) is bringing their annual Christmas production of âAmahl and the Night Visitorsâ to Sweetwater for the first time. With the Saturday, Dec. 6 production, Nolan County residents can enjoy the classic holiday tale during the one-night only event at the Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium.
The Nolan County Food Pantry was the recipient of a giant donation this week.
More than 200 employees at the United States Gypsum (USG) plant in Sweetwater collected over 10,000 pounds of fare in its first company-wide food drive after the donation was given to the pantry earlier this week. Dozens of workers at the plant helped load the massive haul, which required a flatbed trailer to move it.

The Sweetwater High School robotics team left Friday morning to travel to Garland to compete in the U.S. Regional BEST Robotics Competition. The Fifth Annual 5K Run for the WASP will take place this Saturday at the National WASP WWII Museum, located at 210 Avenger Field Road in Sweetwater.
The event will include a 5K Run for the WASP, 1.3 mile fun walk, and a 1 mile kids race, as part of the celebration honoring the WWII Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASP) and all veterans. The museum will open at 10 a.m. and registration will begin at 11 a.m. in the WASP Museum parking lot. The race â both the run and walk â will begin at 1 p.m. The kids race will take place as results from the run and walk are being compiled.
Many braved the cold temperatures in Sweetwater on Wednesday evening to support the Sweetwater Mustang football team and the Lady Mustang volleyball team during a community pep rally hosted in their honor at the Nolan County Courthouse.
