Two lives were claimed on Monday morning after an apparent murder-suicide took place in Nolan County, according to Nolan County Sheriff David Warren. The Nolan County Sheriff's Office spent the day working two scenes of a homicide and suicide connected to a domestic situation in Nolan County.
Seven guilty pleas were entered in the 32nd Judicial Court before Judge Glen Harrison this past week.
Billy John Rosas pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance, namely cocaine. The offense, categorized as a third degree felony, occurred on March 28, 2010.
Under the law, punishment should range not more than 10 years or less than two years imprisonment in the penitentiary. An optional fine not to exceed $10,000 is also allowed.
The Nolan County FoundationÂ presented a check for a $1,000 toÂ Sweetwater Christian School this past Wednesday following Chapel time.Â The children showed their appreciation with a little song for Mr. Glenn Bennett, board memberÂ of the Nolan County Foundation, singing "Sweetwater Christian School has many friends!"

J.P. Cowen Early Childhood Center received two special visitors last week â€”Santa and Mrs. Claus. The two stopped by to visit with students and take photos with the students. On Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 held in the arms of, and surrounded by family in her home, Lanell Davis Lee, was called back to our Heavenly Father. We know she was only loaned to us by God, but never prepared for the day we would have to give her back.
Upon arrival at the Pearly Gates, she was greeted with open arms by her mother, Minnie Lou Davis, father, Taylor Davis and brother, Billy Ray Davis.
Funeral services for Golia Faye Williams, 81, of Snyder, were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rick Williams officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home. A visitation was held from 6-7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Wright Colonial Funeral Home.
Williams died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Cogdell Memorial Hospital.
Sweetwater Middle School seventh grade students Michael Lawrence and Mikeilah Foust are shown with a donation box for the Sweetwater Goodfellows. SMS collected cans of food and new toys for the Goodfellows. The 7th grade collected the most cans to win a coke party.

Sweetwater ISD made a donation of $1,000 to Sweetwater Goodfellows, honoring SISD employees and remembering Jessie Ortega.Â Employees of SISD decided that instead of exchanging gifts this year that they would like to make a donation to the Sweetwater Goodfellows.Â Sweetwater Goodfellows provides toys and food to needy families in Nolan County during the Christmas Season.Â Picture areÂ employees of SISD, Sabrina Bishop, Tamra Burt, Laura Bedgood and Ann Allen.
